Expert Roundtables
Managing Veterans with Prostate Cancer
Every year, approximately 15,000 Veterans are diagnosed and treated at the VA for prostate cancer, and over 200,000 Veterans are prostate cancer survivors. The VA is dedicated to addressing this cancer through evidence-based screening and providing the most advanced and effective prostate cancer care possible.
In support of its goal to advance prostate cancer care and treatment, the VA is:
- Partnering with the Prostate Cancer Foundation to oversee prostate cancer centers of excellence at VA
- Providing molecular testing for patients with metastatic prostate cancer
- Increasing access to clinical trial participation
And has developed a new prostate cancer clinical pathway.
We are grateful to AstraZeneca for sponsoring this expert roundtable on prostate cancer in veterans. Our panel will provide important updates on testing, sequencing, the clinical pathway and the journey of the prostate cancer patient.
The expert faculty was selected by AVAHO and the faculty determined the agenda and the content of the discussion.

Abstract Writing Workshops
Are you interested in submitting an abstract for AVAHO's Annual Meetings?
Are you confused – or perhaps a bit intimidated by the process?
The AVAHO Education Committee has developed two webinars to help you create a well-written abstract for submission! Each session first presents two poorly-written abstracts, followed by a panel of reviewers who then discuss the weak points from each and how the abstract can be strengthened. A revised abstract will then be shown. The sessions conclude with a brief discussion from authors whose abstract was selected from the previous year, describing the process they used to develop their abstract.
